URINARY INCONTINENCE

Urinary incontinence can seriously interfere with your quality of life. As many as 17% of women have the problem, and it rapidly increases as you age. It’s not a problem you should have to live with, however. Dr. Richard Lorenzo and Kortney Jones, ARNP can help identify the cause of your incontinence and offer treatment solutions.

Urinary Incontinence in Women

At Complete Healthcare for Women, we understand that urinary incontinence can be frustrating, embarrassing, and isolating. Many women silently tolerate bladder leaks, thinking it’s just a normal part of aging or childbirth—but it’s not. With proper evaluation and personalized treatment, most women experience significant improvement.

We offer compassionate, discreet care for stress, urge, and mixed incontinence—with a focus on non-surgical options that help you regain control and confidence.

Types of Urinary Incontinence We Treat

🔹 Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)

Leakage that occurs during physical activities such as:

  • Coughing, sneezing, laughing

  • Lifting or bending

  • Exercising or running

Often related to weakened pelvic floor muscles after childbirth or menopause.

🔹 Urge Incontinence (Overactive Bladder)

A sudden, intense urge to urinate followed by involuntary leakage. Often associated with:

  • Frequent urination (more than 8 times per day)

  • Waking up multiple times at night to urinate (nocturia)

  • Difficulty reaching the bathroom in time

May be due to bladder muscle overactivity or nerve signals misfiring.

🔹 Mixed Incontinence

A combination of both stress and urge incontinence symptoms. This is common, especially in midlife or postmenopausal women.

How We Diagnose Incontinence

Our in-office evaluation includes:

  • A detailed history and bladder symptom questionnaire

  • Physical and pelvic exam

  • Urinalysis to rule out infection

  • Bladder diary guidance, if needed

  • Ultrasound and pelvic floor assessment

  • Referrals for urodynamic testing or imaging, if clinically indicated

Your evaluation is personalized to your unique symptoms, lifestyle, and goals.

Non-Surgical Treatment Options We Offer

We focus on evidence-based, nonsurgical solutions that can provide significant improvement in bladder control and quality of life:

🔹 Pelvic Floor Strengthening

  • Guided Kegel exercises

  • Referral to specialized pelvic floor physical therapy

  • Instruction on home-based pelvic support techniques

🔹 Lifestyle and Bladder Behavior Coaching

  • Caffeine and fluid intake modification

  • Weight management support

  • Timed voiding techniques

  • Smoking cessation counseling (if applicable)

🔹 Emsella® Chair Therapy

A revolutionary, non-invasive treatment that strengthens the pelvic floor using high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy. You remain fully clothed during the 28-minute session. Emsella is ideal for:

  • Mild to moderate stress incontinence

  • Urge incontinence and overactive bladder

  • Mixed incontinence

  • Postpartum pelvic weakness

Most patients benefit from a series of treatments and report improvement in symptoms after just a few sessions.

🔹 Medication Management

For urge or mixed incontinence, we may prescribe bladder-stabilizing medications that:

  • Reduce urgency and frequency

  • Improve bladder capacity

  • Decrease nighttime waking

Medications are carefully chosen based on age, health conditions, and side effect profile.
